Archos Launches $99 Arnova Android Tablet!


A great thing about Android tablets?  Anyone can afford them!  Archos just announced that they will be launching the $99 Arnova 7-inch Android tablet, which comes with 4GB flash memory, 800×480 screen capable of playing 720P HD vids, USB 2.0 Host/Slave (meaning you can connect your USB hard drives), Android Froyo 2.2, WiFi b/g, and microSD slot.

The Arnova tablet doesn’t come with a camera but with its USB host mode, you might just be able to hack any webcam on it.

Of course, at $99, this is probably one of the best tablet bargains out there, and I do see

India $35 Android Tablet Launching Soon!


The Indian government is backing a new $35 7-inch Android tablet that will be launched later this month that comes with a keyboard, video conferencing software, wifi, usb port, 32GB internal store, and 2GB of RAM.

These are actually pretty good specs considering that a 32GB microSD card will run you more than $35.

Panasonic Toughbook Android Rugged and Tough Tablet coming soon!


This is a great news for the industrial world, Panasonic announced that they are already working on an Android tablet version of their Toughtbook, rugged for use in the field. There’s no specifics on what the internals will be other than that it’s going to have a tough shell and 10.1-inch screen but we suspect it will probably run Android Honeycomb 3.0 and dual-core processor of some sort.

Vizio 8-inch Android tablet may be coming soon to Walmart, could be one of the better budget Android tablets for this year.  The Vizio tablet should work well with existing Vizio TVs and could be great device for Vizio TV owners.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 Now Available at BestBuy!


The new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is finally here, featuring Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS, 1280×800 10.1-inch screen, HSPA+ connectivity (AT&T and T-Mobile), 720P HD recording, 1080P HD playback, and this is supposedly the Android tablet given out free at Google IO conference, meaning Samsung and Google have worked hard to get this thing done right.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes in two different colors and two different storages.  You can get a white back or metallic-grey back with 16GB or 32GB.

16GB is $499 and 32GB is $599.

Here’s some good news for people who are on a budget and don’t need all the shebang the latest and best Android tablets give you, a $250 7-inch Android tablet with a 1Ghz processor and 1080P video playback from Viewsonic, the new Viewbook 730.

This isn’t the killer 7-inch Android tablet but might be the best 7-inch budget tablet to get and I suspect the price might even get lower when it’s actually launched.

Toshiba Thrive Android Tablet Coming Soon for $429!


I had the chance to look at Toshiba’s Android tablet demo in January at CES 2011 earlier this year and it looks like Toshiba is finally going to launch their tablet.  I know, I know, there’s now an Android tablet device coming from every PC manufacturer?  Well, that’s only good news for us consumers as the competition grows, the prices go down.

MSI Announces Enjoy 7 and Enjoy 10 Android Tablets!


MSI announced their new Android tablets, Enjoy 7 and Enjoy 10, both 1.2Ghz powered tablets aimed at the budget Android market.

There’s no details on the final build nor price but we suspect these new MSI tablets will be more affordable in the $200-300 range with slightly less features than the top-of-the-line tablets like ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and Xoom

Quad-Core Tegra Coming Soon to Android Tablets!

Recently, Nvidia, the manufacturer of current leading Tegra 2 dual-core 1Ghz processor for ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and other android tablets announced the upcoming of a quad-core Tegra processor with 12-core NVidia GPU that supports 3D stereo.

This is going to be very interesting as we are getting more and more powerful CPUs on Android tablets.

We will definitely NOT be seeing any quad-core equipped tablets any time soon but there may be companies implementing them quickly by end of this year.

As for iPads?  They are going to have a hard time keeping up with Nvidia

Eee Pad Transformer Android Tablet Review!


I personally witnessed the very first announcement of the Eee Pad Transformer at the ASUS press conference CES 2011 earlier this year.  I thought this was the most revolutionary tablet device as it allows users to use it as a full netbook with the additional keyboard accessory and additional 16 hours of battery power.

Well, the Eee Pad Transformer is now out, it comes loaded with a 10.1″ screen, 1280×800 resolution with viewing angles up to 178 degrees, 16GB or 32GB internal storage, 1GB DDR2 memory, Tegra 2 dual-core 1Ghz processor, and Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
