The LG G-Slate 4G Android tablet is finally here! And you know one, this is one “beastly” 8.9″ Android tablet you will not want to miss out on.
The LG G-Slate comes with an 8.9″ 1280×768 3D HD screen, Tegra 2 T250 dual-core 1Ghz processor, 1GB of DDR 2 RAM, 32GB of internal storage, TWO 5-megapixel back-facing cameras for 1080P HD recording and 720P 3D recording, 2-megapixel front-camera, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR, HDMI output, a “whopping” 6400mAh battery (compare that with Motorola Xoom’s 3250mAh battery), and the second Android tablet in history to ship with Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
If the specs don’t get your chops lickin’, also note that this is the first Android tablet in the world capable of recording in 3D HD and also playback 3D HD up to 720P.
The LG G-Slate 4G is also one of the rare 8.9″ Android tablets compared to 10.1″ Motorola Zoom and 7″ Samsung Galaxy Tab.
I personally have one of LG’s newer Optimus 2X Android smartphone and boy, having 1080P HD recording capability is a really great thing as this LG G-Slate does too.
As far as specs, the LG G-Slate is on-par or “better” than the Motorola Xoom.
Also note that the LG G-Slate can run on 850/1800/1900 MHz AND 900/1700/2100 MHz GSM for data, meaning you can use it on AT&T by swapping out the SIM. (I don’t know if it ships locked but if the specs say that, it can run on both T-Mobile and AT&T at least by hardware.)
The only downside for the LG G-Slate is that there’s no microSD slot for storage expansion but this could be hacked in the future with a USB-host on its micro USB slot.
This is certainly one of the best Android tablets on the market “now”. If you are thinking about getting an Android tablet on T-Mobile, this is pretty much it.
If you want an Android tablet a bit smaller than 10.1″ (like Xoom), this is certainly it.
I personally feel Galaxy Tab was a tad small for my usage but the LG G-Slate’s slightly larger profile and better resolution seems ideal.
Now aside from everything else, if the 1080P HD recording/playback and 720P 3D HD recording/playback is something you would like, this is the tablet to get. That is something no other tablet company has done so far including Apple’s iPad 2.
